If you’re looking to invest in new windows in your home or you’re beginning the process of building a home, it’s important to keep in mind the different kinds of home windows and how they can define your house. You can customize nearly any window to suit your changing tastes and needs.
Double-hung windows
A double hung window has two parts that slide vertically up and down inside the frame. They can open from the top or the bottom, but they will always remain inside the frame. On a single-hung window, only the bottom part of the window can move vertically.
Bay windows
Generally, bay windows give you more interior space, as they protrude from the exterior of the siding of the house.
Casement windows
Casement windows are hinged and operate by turning a crank, and always open outward. These windows are what you typically see in hotels, and can be hinged on the left or the right to open outward.
Picture windows
These are large, stationary windows that let in the maximum amount of light and views of the outdoors. As beautiful as they are, picture windows don’t allow for very much privacy, unless used with curtains or window treatments.
Sliding windows
Like a sliding glass door gliding along a track, a sliding window has at least one operating window that slides horizontally over the other window. They’re becoming more popular in modern- or contemporary-style homes.
These are just a few of the many types of windows we offer to homeowners in San Antonio and Corpus Christi. Have a question about new windows for your home? Give Window World TX a call!
