Window World TX is a proud Energy Star partner. It means our products (windows, doors, etc.) meet strict governmental standards regarding energy efficiency. We’re incredibly honored to help homeowners be as energy conscious as possible.
But there are other appliances and/or investments that can help a homeowner save both money and energy.
Did you know 60% of your energy bill goes to cooling and heating your home? That’s why picking an AC system with a high SEER rating (a rating that shows the efficiency of your system) is important. According to our friends at Elmer’s One Hour Air, systems in the 15-18 SEER range will not only save you money on your electric bill, but they’ll also qualify you for rebates.
Two other appliances account for a big chunk of your electric bill: your refrigerator and water heater. As far as refrigerators go, Energy Star certified refrigerators use about 15% less energy than those without the Energy Star label. In terms of water heaters, Energy Star recommends heat pump water heaters for climates like Texas.
So there you have it, a few recommendations on appliances that use the most energy in your home. Combined with energy-efficient windows and doors, you’ll be well on your way to a green lifestyle!
