Believe it or not, we’re about a week away from Thanksgiving. That means it’s time for some last-minute home Thanksgiving decorations! (Don’t just skip straight to Christmas like most stores.) A lot of the decorations can be reused, but it’s always fun to create some new goodies with your family. And all of these ideas can be used for the other holidays, too. Just replace the fall things with things season-appropriate!
Home Thanksgiving Decorations
Magnolia wreath
There are so many different kinds of wreaths to choose from, but the two easiest to make are magnolia wreaths and coffee filter wreaths. Magnolia wreaths are easy to make because all you need are some magnolia leaves, a grapevine wreath and a hot glue gun. If you add in some berry sprays or baby’s breath, you have yourself a finished wreath! You can even spray paint the wreath unless you feel so inclined.
Coffee filter wreath
If you saw a coffee filter wreath, you’d never think it was made with such a boring household item! They’re beautiful and can be personalized for any holiday with just a few little touches. All you need is a hot glue gun, coffee filters and a cheap Styrofoam wreath. Just scrunch up the coffee filters, stick some glue on them, hold them on the wreath and voila!
Leaf garland
This one is fun to do with the kids — with adult supervision, of course. Grab a few stalks of fake leaves from your local craft store, and then pick up some clear thread, scissors and a needle. Cut all the leaves off right at the stems, and then sew the invisible thread through the leaves (about three or four stitches per leaf). Put your garlands on a curtain rod, and hang them up in the windows of your home. It will create a beautiful touch of fall that can be enjoyed from the inside and from the outside!
And, as always, if you need new windows or new doors to hang these decorations on, you know you can count on Window World TX!
